JTF Clash With Boko Haram Suspects In Yobe State

The Military Joint Task Force (JTF) in Yobe state said it had smashed a group of suspected Boko Haram insurgents and made recovery of two vehicles, arms, ammunitions and other materials.
Parading the recovered items in Damaturu, the JTF spokesman, Lt. Eli Lazarus, said the group had yesterday attacked a JTF check point in Fune local government and took away a vehicle conveying police items to Borno state.
“The JTF pursued and engaged them in gun fight thereby over powering the terrorists and recovered the stolen vehicle as well as another one used by the group.
“Other items recovered includes one AK47rifle, three Rocket Propelled Gun (RPG) bombs, three RPG chargers, one riot gun, 485 rounds of ammunition’ he said.
Lt. Lazarus also said that, 42 police fragmentation jackets, 44 police helmets, six AK47 rifle magazines, 80 fragmentation blades and illicit drugs were among the items recovered from the hoodlums.
The JTF said some of the suspects fled with gun shots injuries and appealed to the public to report anyone found with gun wounds to security operatives.
